Little
India on Radio Leicester
Following their win in the Restaurant awards, Syed and chef Jaynal
Miah were interviewed by Ben Jackson in his breakfast program on
10 November 2005. Some of Little India's specialist dishes were
taken in to the studios and enjoyed by everybody involved.

A competition for listeners to win a meal for two was run during
the program and the winner, Andy Corbett and his wife Debbie visited
the restaurant in December. Andy sent this review of their
experience. |
"We
had not eaten all day in antecipation of a fantastic meal in the
award winning restaurant. We were met by Syed and had a drink in
the bar whilst we decided what to have from the extensive menu.
We ordered and then were taken to our table which was in
a small intermate dinning area. We ate the popadums and pickles
whilst we waited for our starters, I ordered a Kebab Platter and
Debbie ordered Stuffed Mushrooms, the starters arrived and were
good sized portions all served with a lovely fresh salad. The stuffed
mushrooms which were stuffed with minced lamb were absolutely out
of this world and the kebab platter would have passed for a main
course at other eateries.
We had a nice break between the courses in which we had another
glass of the House White which we were both glad about. The main
courses was soon delivered to the table I ordered Mixed Kharai which
was a selection of chicken, lamb and duck and Pilau Rice. Debbie
ordered Chicken Shashlick Tandoori which came to the table on a
hot griddle, the chicken was served with onions, tomatoes and peppers
and was served with, again, a lovely fresh salad, we both had a
keema nan. The meal was fantastic and we both felt we would not
need to eat for the rest of the week. I managed to have a Kulfi,
a traditional Indian Ice cream and it was very different to any
ordinary ice cream.
Throughout the meal the staff were all very attentive and friendly
and we felt nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere that
this generated proved the necessary ingredients for a great night
out, we enjoyed it so much we are planning to take the family later
this month, as Syed assured us that children are very welcome and
they would cater for them, which is always nice to know when you
are trying something new.
Just one last thing if you cannot finish your meal, do not be afraid
to ask to have it to take home..." Andy
