Curry Capital UK 2011
Thankyou! Little India has been chosen as one of the four restaurants to represent Leicester. Twenty-four restaurants were nominated but your votes meant that we were selected.
This national competition was won by Leicester in 2007 and Little India was part of that winning team.
The next stage this year will be a secret visit by judges who will also visit the other 16 cities in the contest.
Look out for details of a charity night to be arranged, as part of the competition, during National Curry Week (October 9 - 16) in aid of the Curry Tree Charitable Fund.

July 2011 - Bigger and Better!
Alterations to the interior of the restaurant are almost complete and Little India now has more space in both the restaurant and the bar. The dining room next to the kitchen has extra space for tables and now has natural lighting for the first time with a window and glass doors. The bar area has significantly more room with additional seating and an updated decor. More Photos» |

25/2 Under this headline the Leicester Mercury lists six Indian restaurants, including Little India, and points out that not all good restaurants are in the city.
As the Mercury says: "Usually the city is the place to go for the best nights out. But that rule doesn't apply to restaurants - the best of these are scattered throughout the city and county." |
Simply the Best!
As part of National Curry Week, the Leicester Mercury (26/11) included Little India in a quest by their food reviewer Ian Wishart to find the best Rogan Josh in the county. Over two weeks Ian visited six restaurants and at the end awarded Little India full marks, 5 out of 5 – the best score of the six restaurants!
Little India was up against some stiff opposition but Ian was really impressed by the strong ginger and garlic flavours, the excellent service and low cost. He also liked the way the restaurant had been “beautifully transformed” from a traditional pub.
Other restaurants in the quest were: Mem Saab in Highcross (4/5), Shimla Pinks, London Road (4/5), Apurba, Melton Mowbray (2/5), Curry Pot, Belgrave Road (3/5) and Queens Tandoori, Queens Road (3/5)

20/3/08 TOP 10 EATERIES
- Leicester Mercury latest!
This week's "the week" has a list of their top ten
eateries and Little India features in the list as one of only
two Indian restaurants. The listing adds "Terrific,
award-winning Indian restaurant which is justly raved about
by its many customers" |
29/2/08 "Oscar
Winning Performance"
The Leicester Mercury gave Little India another glowing endorsement
in its weekend "HOT 100" section
and featured "5 Reasons to go Out". Putting Little
India first of the five reasons the Mercury goes on to say:
"THE
multi-award-winning Little India in Arnesby (just off the
main road) is still giving an Oscar-winning performance.
Buzzing with people almost every night, the Grade II listed
former pub, refurbished with modern, stylish touches is
a must for curry lovers. With sleek and professional service
that doesn't fuss, there's plenty of choice on the menu,
including traditional favourites, speciality dishes and
chef's recommendations.
Try out their aloo chat and lamb hasina for starters, before
moving on to a Chicken Murrobbah and Shahi Jaifreze for
mains. Two starters, mains and a couple of drinks will set
you back about £50."

Finally! Leicester
is the UK's Curry Capital
In a very close decision Leicester was chosen as the Curry
Capital of the UK for the first time, beating off stiff competition
from rivals Glasgow, Bradford and Manchester. Little
India was part of the Leicester bid having been initially
voted onto the team by customers. In the second stage a panel
of 13 tasters secretly visited all of the restaurants. |
